Excellent!. We've been to Cool Basil several times, and we've always been pleased with the food - only once was it "just OK". We're not Thai food experts, but we've tried other places, and this is our favorite. You choose how spicy it is, you choose the type of meat or vegetarian, and if you're gluten-free, they'll accommodate. If you want a more relaxed eating atmosphere, avoid the 12-1 p.m. time frame. Also, they close mid-afternoon, then reopen for evening.

AMAZING FOOD BUT CARRY OUT, BAD SERVICE. I went there 4 times. The first 3 times the service wasn't very good but it was tolerable; slow service and staff not very friendly or knowledgeable. The last time we went we had a TERRIBLE server. She did not come to our table for 10 minutes ( it was a slow night too, only about a third of the tables filled), brought us our food and NEVER came back. I saw her on her cell phone. Another server finally came to take our money so we could leave. Management did not seem to care at all. I haven't been back since.

Cool Basil in Clive. Delicious!! I love taking my friends here. It's a quiet place where we can actually have a conversation and if we choose to go to dinner, the business is great for people watching. Five stars, two thumbs up...great place for thai food.

WORST place to eat in town. It was our first and last visit to Cool Basil. It's not a very cool place at all!!!!!

If I could give it Negative 5 stars, I would.

Four adults and 2 kids (aged 2 and 4 years old) were in our dinner party. We waited pretty long for our food, and when they finally came, ALL of our dishes except one tasted like the cover on the salt bottle weren't in place at all. They were EXTREMELY SALTY and barely edible.

When our bill came, they assessed the automatic 15% or 18% gratuity because our party had a head count of 6, never mind the fact that our children did not even order any dishes, nor did we asked for extra plates or anything else!!!

When we complained to management that both of our children were 2 & 4 years old and should not be counted - they basically said they were still taking up a seat and therefore counted in the head count.

Simply OUTRAGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. In fact, I have told everyone who have asked about Thai restaurants about our horrible experiences at this place.
