Think about it.

by Figmo

Just happen to be there with new menu . Steak Sandwich was ordered. Forget it. Thin piece of meat with no flavor. Order Au Jus to put some flavor in meat. I guess for $10.00 you get what its worth. Other guess ordered the chicken sandwich and it was very good. The fries where nothing but small pieces. Find a different brand. Drinks where very whimpy. Stick with Legends.

  • Pros: None
  • Cons: Whimpy drinks

I heart jimmys

by CSMobileUser2

Jimmys is one of my favorite places to grab some drinks. They have great appetizers and decent happy hour prices. The service is decent and patio is the best in town.

Amazing Margaritas!!

by DSMgrl

I have been to Jimmy's several times and received nothing but outstanding service. The staff is very nice and helpful not to mention that the restaurant is very clean. The margartias are the best in town in my opinon! I will be a long time customer as long as they are around!

  • Pros: close parking, very attentive staff
  • Cons: it can get busy with a lot of people

All American Ripoff Joint

by Undrdwg

This was the worst dining experience I've had in DesMoines. Six ribs and a very small bowl of coleslaw for $12 is outrageous! The only other thing that came with my meal was a warm towel. The pitiful attempt to apply a hot/spicey barbque sauce couldn't cover the fact that the rib meat was OLD. The night we were there, apparently the hostess had not turned up for work and our server took a definite attitude about having to seat us. Her attitude carried over into her service as well. There are a LOT of Great places to eat in DesMoines .... this ISN"T one of them.

  • Pros: Looked like the bar was busy
  • Cons: Sub-standard and high priced food

Horrible service and horrible food.

by philselway

My 3 year old was served chocolate milk that was so old it was beginning to separate, and they still charged us. The waiter's response was "the expiration date was good", no "sorry" or "can I get you something else". I ordered fish and chips. There was no malt vinegar and the tartar sauce was Thousand Island dressing with pickle relish. We ordered appetizers and the there were no plates. Our waiter was no where to be found, so we asked another incompitant waiter and he returned (obviously annoyed with our request) with saucers. The service is the worst in town and the food is almost as bad. With all of the great options in Des Moines, do not waste your time on this place. Please tell your friends not to eat at this place.

  • Pros: Appetizers
  • Cons: Service and entrees

Without a doubt, the worst dining experience in Des Moines. Tell your friends. Avoid this place.

The evening was ruined by the ABYSMAL staff, server and manager included.

Our server explained to us, after the first time she disappeared on us for a solid twenty minutes, that the restaurant was busy and short staffed. We told her not to worry. She didn't. The rest of the evening service was incredibly slow.

Three friends joined our group of five as we ate on the patio. They ordered beers, but had to go to get them from the bar after 15 minutes. The waitress brought three more anyway, not offering to take them back or comp them.

Getting antsy, we gave her our credit cards in order to avoid getting the bill and waiting twenty more minutes to pay. She was gone again for fifteen minutes.

While waiting, a sociopathic person in the parking lot began yelling at our party, threatening us. We told the manager, and he told us he was sorry with the unmistakable tone, ?quit bothering me.? The sociopath roared out of the parking lot and began driving back and forth in front of the restaurant.

My wife went inside to find our server dallying at the bar, not running our checks. She glared, asked for the checks, and came back to the table. At this point, we all felt like hostages.

When we got the bills to sign, the server left before we noticed that our bills were too high. After waiting ten minutes for her to return, I went in to ask for itemized bills. Intrigued by her laziness, I watched her stand in the kitchen doing nothing for two minutes.

We discovered that she had added gratuity for a party of eight although we were a party of five with three joining us for drinks. Ridiculous. Fed up, we signed the bill and stormed out.

The next day, I called Jimmy?s to report the terrible experience. After every detail, the manager repeated, "I'm sorry," with the unmistakeable tone, "Sir, I could care less."

In sum, Jimmy's is a terrible, terrible place. Ter-ri-ble. If there were an option for zero stars, that would be my rating.

  • Pros: Decent food, nice patio.
  • Cons: Terrible service, overpriced, mentally disturbed people yell at tables from the parking lot.
